The Kiki Factor: Nets Win 97-91

In an auspicious coaching debut, new Nets Coach Kiki Vandwegehe broke the Nets record losing streak and notched his first victory against no losses in an overall team effort. The Nets put away the Charlotte Bobcats 97-91 tonight at IZOD. While one victory doesn\’t a season make, it\’s something to build upon.*

The big difference in this game was energy, hustle and team play for an entire four stanzas. Playing with joie-de-vivre and having fun out there the Nets seemed up to the challenge.

When push came to shove, the Nets overcame, battled and failed to wither. Better offensive spacing, defense and an advantage in forcing miscues told the tale of the tape.

While there is much commendation to pass around, The big stars were SG Courtney Lee, whose first start since he got hurt resulted in stellar results: 27 critical points along with a smart stat line, and Brook Lopez posting a monster game that included 31 points – a lot of it inside – and 14 boards. Devin Harris who notched 16 points and 8 assists also make key defensive plays and hustled to save this victory.

Not to forget, Josh Boone\’s three blocked shots were huge and his intangibles that don\’t show up in the box complemented the entire effort nicely. The faithful can now breathe a sigh of relief, Halleleujah!
